Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court Justice Justice Z A Haq and Justice Amit Borkar on May 06 2021 while disposing of the suo moto Criminal application, directed the designated court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Nagpur to conclude the trial by the first week of June. The court appointed well-known prosecutor Adv. Jyoti Wajani as a Special Public Prosecutor to conduct the trial on a day-to-day basis.
On 23rd April 2021, the court taking cognizance of the report published in daily Hitvada has directed to register a suo moto criminal application and directed the commissioner of police to file the charge sheet.
The commissioner of police Mr. Amitesh Kumar in his affidavit has informed that in 8 cases the charge sheet has been filed and 5 more charge sheets would be filed against erring personals.
The high court while referring to a news report detailing black marketers to nab by the city police last week stressed the need for unprecedented measures to control the activities of black marketers of life-saving drugs such as Remdisivir, Tocilizumab, Covifor, and even oxygen cylinders.
Learned APP TA Mirza assured the court to expedite the filing of the charge sheet in the shortest possible time with the rigorous follow-up to ensure completion of the trial.
The court directed secretory law and judiciary to pay Rs. 60,000 per case to Special PP Jyoti Wajani.
